Epic Duck Nest in Winona
« on: April 14, 2011, 22:12:33 »
GC1H626 It's a 5/5 multi cache, and you need to go to 6 stages all together. A group of us are heading north to grab this cache on April 30th.  I haven't suggested a time yet.  It sounds like you make a big loop of the area and up back fairly close to your car.  Post here or on the cache page if you are interested in joining us.  I'm not going to create an event, but if someone wants to, I think there are still 2 days to get it submitted to the administrator.

That would be an event focused on getting a cache -- not allowed. I know as I discussed with ST when I was creating my X Marks the Spot event. I had to create an event nearby and just mentioned that beforehand a group of us were planning on heading to the cache. On a Saturday a morning event might be a good idea -- if the cache requires boating, maybe a boating-related event would be a good idea.

If you word things properly-meet and greet at the shelter-bring donuts or some other food item to share. . . .then it works.  Marlin01 ran one after the geogolf course down in Cortland a couple of years ago. You can't say you are meeting to do the hike, you can suggest that people may decide to hike in the area before or after the meeting.

I posted this on the Rochester site.  I also threw out a suggestion of maybe a little FRIENDLEY competition to do this.   Maybe spark  a little interest in doing this cache.   I hope I did not overstep any boundaries. More the merrier right?   ???
It is what it is!

Works for me. . . I added a CITO event to start off the day.  That way, cachers who have already done the cache can come along and still get a smiley, AND, we do something good for the forest.

I'll be there and am hopefully bringing a few friends with me.  It sounds like we're meeting at the CITO event at 9:30 and then head onto the trails for this cache?  Looking forward to it!!

Yes, that's the plan.  The cache mentions fire tacks, but I checked with someone who had already been there and he said we didn't need darknes. . .

Had a great time on the trek. . . thanks to all who showed up.  Sometimes you get too many people trying to head in too many directions, but people were really flexible, put their heads together and we had some great teamwork on this one.  I appreciated all the snacks people chipped in at the end. . . fun day all around.
