Wow, can it really be the 4th one already?

I know its still 6 months away, but i have a lot of planning to do to make this one the best one yet, with many new changes.....so, im pre-warning you all now...that

On February 27th, 2010, the Blueline Geocachers will be hosting the Mid-Winter GeoCaching Get-Together 2010 in Long Lake.

For those of you who have never attending the Mid-Winter event, here are the links to the previous years:

Some of you might know this from talking with me either at one of our group hunts or at the annual picnic, but those of you who do not, the event will not be hosted at the Adirondack Hotel this year.

The Town of Long Lake has gotten involved and is gonna help organize the event this year. I have secured the Town Hall for our event. This is a very large room with plenty of tables and chairs.

See diagram layout here:

http://www.bluelinegeocachers.org/documents/long_lake_town_hall_request_form.pdf

I am still wrestling with the idea of having a POT LUCK lunch or fronting the spread my self and having each individual geocacher/family/team pay a fee.
The problem with the POT LUCK is that many geocachers come up early (thursday/friday) and there may be a problem with keeping food fresh until the actual day of the event (saturday).

Anyway, there is plenty of time to think about this issue.

I am learning a new program (Dreamweaver) and hope to have the Blueline Geocachers webpage up and running in the near future with a page dedicated to the event. I will post more on it later.

There will be another Geocache Container contest this year....so put your thinking caps on and start thinking about creating another unique cache for this years event.

and of course, there will be the Picture Boards...with new boards being added this year.

If you plan on attending and you are coming up early and need a room, this is the time to start making your arrangements, they are going fast.

Hope to C-U in February in Beautiful Long Lake!

The event has been published:

Anyone planning on attending for more than one day, should make reservations for their accomodations now. The rooms will go fast. If they are not all taking up by geocachers, they will be taking up by Snowmobilers planning their winter trips.  Their is a link in the vent page to the Long Lake accomodations.  More info to be published soon.

GG, as always, your accomodations are waiting for you.....Smiley

This one sounds like a great deal of fun.  Depending on weather, I may try to make this one.  If a severe cold snap hits, probably not. (Heating Business) But it is on my radar as agood possibility.

Hah, I was going to say "The colder the better" but I see your reasoning now Smiley

So is anyone from Syracuse area going?  Hope so. Already started getting the old body on shape for X country skiing.  Solved a couple of the puzzles.   Really looking foward to it.  Even completed a Cache for the contest.  We all need a Mid-Winter break - so who's going?     Huh

With the first of the events for the Mid-Winter Geocaching event weekend just 10 days away, I need to start to get
a better picture of the total number of people attending.

Please send me a email to geolobos AT yahoo DOT com. Place in the subject line "RSVP"

Total Number of geocachers in your group attending Saturday's (27th) event (Mid-Winter Geocaching Get-Together Event)?

Please list each of their geonicks.

Also please tell me the total number who will be eating the catered lunch on Saturday as well.

Please list each of their geonicks.

I need a separate count for the town (Town Hall) and a separate count for the Caterer.

I will be giving a estimate to the town and caterer at the one week away mark.

If other in your party have geonicks and they have yet to post a will attend, please do so. The more numbers, the more it will entice others to come.

Thank You

C-U Soon!

Have a good time!  I won't be able to make it as I'll be having knee surgery (again) on the 24th.  Have fun and hopefully I'll catch the next one.

I really hope to get there for Sat. but I can't commit yet. . .depends on our health issues being resolved.  That said, I just read the flyer, and I have a great caching photo that includes several cachers plus the mid air derriere of thequeensreply. . . and I know she won't be looking at this board, so I'm safe talking about it.  That said, if the photo wins, I'll never hear the end of it!

Doree just returned from walking Abby and she says we got just alittle over 4" of fresh new snow just last night. I don't think we are getting hit as hard here as those elsewhere. Anyone get more than 4" elsewhere?

It is snowing lighly here and im sure we will get more by Friday.

I would think, that those of you traveling up to long lake from lower lying areas...that if you can get out of your areas and the heavy wet snow, you will be good to go. We are not getting heavy wet snow, we are getting beautiful fluffy snow (cause of the elevation and temp difference).

I had really hoped to be able to come, but "C" is working, so I've lost my ride, and my bum knee can't take that much driving  (3 hours each way. . . ) so I guess I'll have to wait till next year.  Have fun, all.

It is 7:30 am on Thursday morning (February 25th). We got another 1-1/2 inches of fresh pack snow last night. You know the kind you make snowballs, snowmen & snowwoman out of <smile>. Its beautiful snow. A X-Skier's dream!  At midnight last night the temp was 32 degrees F and this morning at 7:00 am it was still 32 degrees F. I am anticipating it rising a few degrees today.  The forecast for today is "high 34 degrees F. Snow may be heavy at times. Snow accumulation of 2 to 4 inches. Near steady temperature in the lower 30s. East winds 5 to 10 mph. Chance of snow near 100 percent." Not sure if we will get that much snow or not, since we haven't been getting what they say we were suppose to get over the last couple of days. Anyway, if we get another inch, that will be great. 1" of fresh new snow every day before the event adds up <smile>.
