Stopped over at my parent's house tonight (Finn McCool & Molly), and Molly talked me into doing the jump! So I will be there also on July 25, along with TinyMoon (who will not be jumping but will watch), Finn & Molly, and my brother wildman619, who is driving here all the way from Massichoosiyits (sp? :D) just for this crazy event!

[Using his best Mr. Burns voice] Eeeeexcellent!

Consider this my payback for when I rowed out to Mad as a Hatter and there was no container to be found  ;D

Of course, you say "do the jump" like we're skydiving.  :-\ What exactly did she talk you into?  ???  :D

"Do the jump" will sound more manly when I tell my biker buddies about this at our weekly Wednesday meetings...however "plunge over the precipice screaming like a terrified little girl" is probably a heck of a lot more accurate  ;D !

As stated in a previous post, BWT does an excellant job teaching repelling to complete this cache.  It's alot of work on his part with equipment and teaching everyone seperately. He goes up and down with every cacher. Did he put a limit on the number he can accomodate? Just thinking of all that goes into it. Captain Jon

BWT is well aware of how many have signed up to come on July 25. He specifically said there was no limit, but we did discuss how his methods might change a bit with a larger crowd. This will be his largest group yet.

OK I'm committed.  I've been certifiable for years but now I'm committed to Acrophobia for July 25.

Bluegirl and I are in...and have pre-registered us both.

If BWT needs any help whatsoever, I would be willing to offer some help. I spent 6 years in the Marine Corps and a total nine years in the National Guard (with a Tour in IRAQ).  Its been a while since I rappelled, But i have some years of experience rappelling. If Im needed in any way I would be happy to help. Maybe you just need me in the area of Belaying.

Not sure what kind of gear BWT will be using, but im from the old school of creating a Swiss Seat Rappel Harness from a strip of rope and attaching a carbiner to it.

ANway, its BWT's hunt, so if im not needed, i will still let BWT carry the ball and direct the entire operation (and i won't get in the way)

Looking forward to the fun!

Due to the size of the group (currently 15 people rappelling :o) I know that BWT will have his brother there to help out as well. I'll pass this message along...I'm sure he could probably use you in some capacity.

Hmm, I like Tiny Moon's description of plunging over a precipice screaming like a little girl-I just hope the ropes hold!  Going down isn't so bad, it's stepping off in the first place that scares me.

Thanks.  That is actually me, actually at Acrophobia (or a few feet below it :)) last year.  Geocacher TazD took the photo.

Wanted to check in and remind everyone to bring weather-appropriate attire and make sure you wear or bring sneakers or hiking shoes/boots.  If it's wet the rock will be slippery.  Sandals are right out even if it's dry.  Travel bugs are encouraged but be aware that this cache tends to be a travel bug prison due to the infrequent visits. Unless you want your bug to remain in the cache for a time period that could potentially be months long, I suggest you dip them or leave them for someone following you in the group.  All the bugs in the cache have been sitting there since at least last fall, so it would be nice if we could help them along.

We are going to have a great time.
