200
« on: December 30, 2011, 18:55:46 »
It's not about the numbers. Well, it's not entirely about the numbers. It is a little bit about the numbers. This morning I was 8 caches short of 200 finds and 2 days short of 2012. I knew what I had to do.

Fortunately this ridiculous December has left us with very little snow on the ground, and today was not too cold. Unfortunately that meant a lot of mud on the ground, but that's why I own a pair of Muck Boots.

I drew up a list of caches to look for. We moved to Camillus last summer and there are still lots of caches within 3 miles or so that I haven't found. I decided to focus on regular size caches, partly because I like them best and partly because I happened to have three travel bugs to drop off.

I started with three caches along the canal. Was going to be four but then I discovered one of them was on the other side of the canal. It would have taken me another half hour to get that one, and I needed a bathroom. Some other day, then.

I found one other cache before lunch over near the canal. After lunch I came to the Camillus Forest Unique Area and found cache #5 for the day. It took longer than I expected, and my cell phone which I was using as my GPSr was running out of juice. I'd left my other GPSr at home. Decided to go back and get it, then returned to swoop through on the last three caches for today.

#200 was How Do You Catch a Unique Squirrel http://coord.info/GC12GF9.

OK, now I'm ready for 2012.
