so sorry to have something else on my plate would love to see this clown go thru the entire legal process.chances are he won't even have to show up and in the end will only get a "pat" on the wrist.... when the good weather gets here we should get  a good idea from all the cachers out searching in the Rome Boonville area if the caches will remain unplundered. our fingers are crossed and looking forward to replacing several of our caches that came up missing while this jerk was having his sense of fun. Hope if anyone does go or learns anything about its outcome they post it for all to see

There were 3 of us local cachers there in the court room, Johfra, KayLeo and myself. Others would have came but with it being such short notice they had others appointments.

The DA was not in today so they moved the hearing to a conference on April 7th.

Right across the street from the Rome City Courts is a park. Great place for a possible Geo Event...     :p

Today's was held in the court room where all the other traffic tickets and small stuff took place.   All we know is that it's a conference but no time given.   Hopefully, will know more closer to the date.

But Hey if there is a Geo Event across the street would you come?

The case was adjurned until April 7th to give time for a conference.  If the DA had been in today they would have had the conference during a recess and would have come back in with either a deal or they would set a trail date.  Mr Repak has the option of a jury trial or a trail by judge.  Rome holds court at 9AM and 2PM....more than likely it is the 9AM time on the 7th, but we will call and make sure of the time later.  If a deal is made in conference the time in front of the judge will be minimal, they will call him up and set the terms (if any)and it will be done in minutes.  If a deal is not made, the state has 60 days to bring Mr. Repak to trial.

The Rome Sentinel did a little follow up blurb about Paul Repak and the fact that he plead not guilty.  So his name is in the paper once again.

Here is the blurb, which includes the exact charges that Kayleo mentioned previously.
Quote
• Paul L. Repak, 58, of 7600 Lewis Road, Boonville, pleaded not guilty to fifth-degree possession of stolen property and petty larceny.

5th degree? What's that? Well looky here: http://www.courts.state.ny.us/cji/2-PenalLaw/165/165-40.pdf -- defined in just 4 pages, which is pretty short for legal stuff.

This is what appeared in the actual paper, not the website.

"Paul L. Repak, 58, of Lewis Road, Boonville, pleaded not guilty to fifth-degree possession of stolen property and petty larceny.  Police said at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 16, Rapak stole a black magnetic key holder that had been hidden beneath a sculpture on the Griffiss Business and tecnology Park as part of a game known as geocaching.  The object of the game is to hide a small trinket somewhere in your neighborhood, and then other players will search for it using the Global Positioning  System."
