I recently became a premium member. Outside the weekly newsletter from geocaching.com that announces new caches near your home coordinates, how do you become aware of new caches to potentially earn a FTF?

So you want to be a FTF finder. Good luck. You can go to your profile page and set up notifications that will let you know of the new caches out. You can also have them sent to your cell phone which the FTF Hounds  do. Or just keep checking your caches not found page. It also helps if your a night owl. Hope this helps. ps: Letting the air out of hubbye's and LCSM's tires would help also.    |

Unfortunately, I haven't met any other cachers yet. But I'm still pretty new to the sport. I'm sure I'll meet y'all soon.

You could travel down to Trumansburg or Letchworth this Saturday and meet some cachers It was fun at one of my events when I had a few caches released during the event. You could tell all the FTF Hounds because they all started frantically looking at their phones at the exact same moment. Good stuff. In our area, Sapience Trek is the one who publishes most of our caches in Syracuse, with the exception of stuff to the east (past Fayetteville?) and stuff to the north. From my experience, ST generally publishes caches between 6 and 7 am and between 7 and 9 pm. Often caches will come out later than 9 pm and of course there are exceptions. If I get bored enough, I could create a chart showing the release times of caches...but I don't expect to be that bored this week |

So, I have changed my settings so I'm notified when new caches are posted. But, what I've realized is, I have to drop everything and run as soon as I get that email if I want to be FTF! There are some quick cachers around here! But, I'll get one... eventually.

I got my first FTF today!! I received email notification while on my way to work of the new cache. So, I ran over to try and find it. Within a few minutes I had signed the log and was on my way to work, only this time with a big smile on my face!!! I received a few wierd looks as I'm in my work clothes and on the side of a busy road jumping through the tall grass, but no big deal!
So, Hubbye and LCSM, if you decided to sleep in today to let me have this one, I thank you!

I did notice your FTF log when I checked that cache out. Congratz! I do plenty of "business casual caching". It has created some interesting stories...and interesting stains on my khakis.  |

LCSM and Hubbye were first cachers we met, coincidentally at a FTF (Fiddler's Green) and we're happy to have some new friends :-)
Sharing a FTF isn't always a bad thing, but opening that log and discovering you're the first there is definitely a rush! We plan to give Hubbye and LCSM a run for their money this summer.......

I'm looking forward to the nicer weather. I got out for the first time last weekend to do some caching and I'm just getting so excited to be out caching again. I drove out to Rochester today to drop my cousin off at the airport and had to stop nearby for a cache. I was limited by time, but if I wasn't, I would've had about 10-12 find today (at least that's how many I had researched on my route).
I hope to meet everyone soon as I still haven't met any local cachers, hopefully at an FTF.
