October, or snowier times?
I've lived in Syracuse (and my wife is from the area)... it's always "snowier times"

. We are coming up 6-7 Nov.
Green Lakes is definitely a nice area for hiking. I spend 7 hours there one day. Not sure if it's still tick season, but I have heard that ticks are a problem there. (I didn't see or find any on my visit.)
We are very familiar with ticks, so we're always careful.
Depending on when we get back into the city, we'll have to see if we can hit this one (we may not be back until late Friday after hitting "The Spot").
Any ingenious/clever urban hides?
