Vegas Caching
« on: September 17, 2010, 13:48:40 »
I'll be attending a week-long conference in Las Vegas in mid-October. It is being held at the Rio Hotel/Casino. Has anyone had the opportunity to cache in Vegas? Can you recommend any must-see caches?

Looking at the site, some people have a few bookmark lists for caches near the strip, so I'll likely check those out too.

Thanks in advance!

You might want to contact MrMom or MsBusyMom as they both go to Las Vegas every year and could tell you what "must-see" caches to do.

In April, I spent six days there caching only.  Did not spend one nickel in a slot as caching was more important.
The Virtuals are great, but print out needed info as there are so many it is hard to keep track.  They also can be done any time.
On Sunday we started at seven in the morning and did 95 caches in a day.  The power trails about thirty miles south west of Vegas are GREAT!  The Ker-Mo Series and alphabet series can be done in about four or five hours. ( About one hundred and fifty caches)
So depending on time you have and transportation available, Vegas is an excellant place to cache.
It is what it is!

My uninformed impression is that you need at least 2-3 people to do the power trails.  If you want to go to a beautiful area for some quick caches along with some great hikes, and amazing scenery, Red Rock Canyon isn't too far from Vegas.  Also, if you are interested in stats, California is only about 30 minutes away (to the closest cache) so you can pick up a couple at the border. Have fun. ..
