Hello. New member here, thanks to Novac. I sent him a note about getting my Geocaching Learners Permit and after some emails back and forth, he told me about this website.

I'm relatively new to geocaching. I've been wanting to ge involved for a long time but it took a Jeep trip to Pennsylvania and me finding a travelbug sticker on the back of someone's Jeep to get me to log into the site and start finding caches. I am in search of a GPSr as I've been caching with a Nuvi360 and my iPhone. I'm greatly enjoying this sport and look to become more involved.

In other circles I'm known as BobZinger but I couldn't believe that name was taken at geocaching.com. Oh well, life goes on. So I look forward to meeting you at some point. I'm not much of a lurker, so you'll hear from me soon.

Take care,
 Bob

Welcome, Bob! Glad to see you made it to the forum. I look forward to meeting you some day, be it on the trail or at an event.

The iPhone app is a nifty little tool. Certainly a welcome stand-in until you get your hands on a GPSr geared toward geocaching.

LOL, BobZinger was taken back in 2004, so you're way too late to the show for that one.

I purchased a Garmin 60CSX last night. Package deal with a mount for my mtn bike, a car adapter, car mount for the Jeep. I think I made out pretty well.

Novac, thanks for the suggestion of The Well-Rounded day in CNY. I started looking into it last night and started planning. I might attempt it this weekend. A question I had was, if we pick a multi, do we have to do the entire multi or just one? Other than that, I think it looks pretty straight forward.

Thanks again, talk to you soon!

In order to get credit for doing a multi, you have to do the entire cache. What happens is this: You get to the posted coordinates, and there you will find a second set of coordinates. You then add those coords to your GPSr and head to the new location. When you get there, you will either find the cache and logbook, or possibly another set of coordinates. So basically you keep going until you get to the final location and sign the logbook.
I'm sending you an e-mail with some more details.

No - You just have to relog all those caches on-line with your new user name.

I had my name changed on geocaching, so all my finds are still there...
