Troopers wonder how mammoth snowplow blade vanished from Auburn mall lot

Auburn, NY -- State police as are baffled as anyone as to how a 16-foot-long, 2-ton-plus yellow snowplow blade could disappear.

But a blade of that description has vanished from behind an Auburn shopping center and troopers are asking the public's help in recovering it.

The big Pro-Tech scraper is owned by James V. Spano Corp., the company that plows the parking lot at the Fingerlakes Crossings center on Clark Street Road, state police Investigator Edward Charles said.

Spano workers last saw the blade on Saturday. They discovered it was gone on Wednesday, when they went behind the center where it was stored to hook it up to a loader and push snow off the parking lot, Charles said.

"You'd need more than just a pickup truck" to take it, Charles said. The thieves would need a loader to lift it and a flatbed truck to haul it away, he said.

Anyone with information on the theft should call Charles or Trooper Thomas Indelicato at 255-2767.

He was able to pull it to a secret remote location via a network of vast underground tunnels.

Now that the case has been settled out of court, I think I'm allowed to comment about this. . . so therefore, "no comment."
