Medallion Hunt
« on: February 12, 2010, 13:43:36 »
I'm just wondering if anyone else is participating in the Post-Standard Medallion Hunt this year.  This will be wife and I's first time participating in the event.  Sure could use a little extra money.  Being a geocacher, I think we have an advantage!

Good luck!!

I can tell you that geocachers have a great advantage in the medallion hunt. The medallion is usually in a park (and I believe one of this year's hints specifically says this) and geocachers visit oh so many parks :)

Last year the medallion was at Ryder park, about 200 feet from a former (archived) geocache location.

My wife and I took a trip to Green Lakes after work tonight and snooped around the boat house and play ground.  Unfortunately, no luck.  There were some others there searching as well and many footprints from previous searchers.  I think we have it narrowed down to two parks, Oneida Shores or Green Lakes.  We'll see what tomorrow's hint brings.

Once the hints made it obvious last year, there were dozens of cars parked at Ryder Park -- so many that people had to park on the side of the road. Muahahaha!!!

My cache at Oneida Shores "Muskrats at Bay" was found this year by several muggles who signed the log and one even took it home . thank goodness when they finally were told what they had they took it back or so i was told. I must be honest I have as yet to go check on it but will soon. To all you cachers out there just to let you know many more are planned for this spring any some even sooner. Mermaidb50
